Just wondering if they are compatible without any bios updates as we are both unsure.

The motherboard has a Flash BIOS feature so updates can be done without a working CPU.

According to https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B550-A-PRO/support#cpu the 5800X requires BIOS 7C56vA7.zip which according to https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B550-A-PRO/support#bios was released 2021-07-06. Unless the motherboard is very old stock, it should have a BIOS that supports the CPU.

Hello guys,

my friend has recent just bought a Ryzen 7 5800x and is planning to mix it with a MSI B550-A Pro mobo.

Just wondering if they are compatible without any bios updates as we are both unsure.

Thanks.

Bios requirements for the CPU can be found on the website of the mainboard producer.

Only the vendors might declare which version of bios is installed on devices for sale.

Not English-speaking person, sorry, I'll make mistakes. If you're kind, maybe you'll be able to understand.

If you're really kind, you'll nicely point that out so I will learn more about write in good English.  🙂

If he's buying the board new then I would expect it to have a BIOS which is compatible already.

Edit: This board has BIOS flash with a button the back without needing any CPU to be installed, so on the off chance it doesn't have a compatible BIOS already it will be easy to rectify.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
