tuf 3080ti

b650 strix mobo

rm850x psu

I keep getting a BSOD for barely 2 seconds as it fades from top screen to bottom and then instantly reboots my system.  Temps are normal according to HWinfo64

I have a bad feeling its either my RAM or GPU slowly failing.

Any kind advice would be greatly appreciated.

thx

Have a look at the event viewer in windows, it should at least store the error code.

To get there, press windows key and start typing "event viewer". It should come up more or less immediately. Select the "windows logs" tab on the left, then "System".

You might have to scroll down quite a bit, but you should be able to find the error code.

any and all help is greatly appreciated I am still learning how to fix some of these things.

thanks again

Great attitude

Those pics aren't quite the errors we are looking for - try to get us a few events from around the time period of the crash, but only if they have a red icon beside them

There should be one before this (time wise, so further down), probably a few seconds before. This message just states that the machine just rebooted without being shut down before.

In theory there should be another critical or error message somewhere before that, look carefully at the time under "logged"

Again, none of these are an actual BSOD error message, which means either you can't find it or they don't make it to the logs.

In any case, a few things to try:

- remove all but one RAM stick and disable expo/xmp/etc. and see if that works. check every stick individually.

- use memetest to test RAM

- remove the GPU and use the iGPU to see if that helps.

If you still crash, do you have any dump files? Go to C:\Windows\Minidump and check if you have any minidumps. If you do, go back to the Windows folder and copy the Minidump folder itself to the Downloads folder (You can use the desktop if you don't have OneDrive syncing files). Zip the copied folder and attach it to a post. Please follow the instructions to the letter as Windows doesn't like you messing with files in this location.
