Hi Everyone,

So I made a comment on the most recent wan show where Linus asked for feedback on the small pet (cat) bed/cave in the style of a CRT monitor. I just wanted to add some more to what I said there. Mainly, this is just a post about what I’d like to see in this product, coming from a cat owner.

Firstly, I’d imagine this product as being essentially two parts, the exterior shell which is in the shape of the monitor, and an interior pillow. The pillow should be removable so it can be washed, also in case the inside of the cave needs to be cleaned. Animals may pee and throw up everywhere, sometimes it’s unpredictable. As for the materials of the pillow itself. I think it should be double sided, so one side is the soft plush fuzzy material, and flipping it over is the sleek, easy to clean material. This way owners can choose what they prefer, and also their pets can choose what they prefer, or switch when they want to. To clarify, top and bottom are different materials, not a turn it inside out kind of thing.

Now for the outside. It needs to be carpeted. At least the top and sides. My cats will scratch on anything and everything and I’d rather it be something meant to be scratched. However, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume that this is gonna be a lower sized production run using premium materials, so it won’t be that cheap. With that said, the carpet needs to be user replaceable. Honestly, the best way would be to design the profile of the CRT with carpeted shaped panels in mind. That way when one wears down, you don’t need to recarpet the entire thing, just one portion. LMG could also sell replacement panels, or people could carpet them themselves. I’m no carpet expert, but whatever gets chosen needs to be able to somewhat withstand my cat’s claws. I don’t want to come home to find half the CRT on the floor. Also, from how it’s been described, it sounds like it’s meant to be a functional show piece, so durability and sustainability are key for keeping it looking like a CRT.

I own two cats. Structurally, this needs to be able to support them both sitting on top of it, trust me, it doesn’t matter how small it is, they will find a way to do it. I don’t want it caving in underneath them.
