Hi i have this wierd issue where i cannot format my ssd using windows disk manager, windows installer, comand prompt by diskpart and clean.

Any idieas what else can be done to format this drive.

I can normally boot to the drive copy files from it, but when i trie to delete the files from it they magically appear agin on it.

I made a new installation of windows on a another ssd but i wanna use the 2 ssd as a storage drive.

You can boot. Is it slow? You cant delete files. Sounds like a dead drive to me. Back up your stuff and try secure erase?

If deleting partitions using diskpart doesn’t work, I’m not sure anything will. This will wipe everything off the drive.

Just to make sure - open diskpart in an elevated command prompt. Use list disk to find the right drive. Select disk X. List partition. Select partition Y. Delete partition override.

Those are the commands to use, in order. X and Y are placeholders for the disk and partition number. Delete all the partitions.

Once that’s done, run create partition primary. Then run format fs=ntfs. Then run assign to give it a drive letter.

If you don’t have a working disk at this point, it’s dead.

I'd gladly read more info about this "unformattable" SSD...

Not English-speaking person, sorry, I'll make mistakes. If you're kind, maybe you'll be able to understand.

If you're really kind, you'll nicely point that out so I will learn more about write in good English.  🙂

is this a piece of software or how to do it?

You can use killdisk freeware and make a bootable usb. Some motherboards have it integrated in bios, like many Asus boards for example.
