GPU Swap damaging drivers?

Go to solution Solved by Dukesilver27-,

It would be better if you clean uninstall the old drivers with DDU then install the latest WHQL drivers after you installed the 7800 XT.

Adrenaline has all this feature to tweak your GPU, I wouldn't take a chance in using an old drivers installed for another model of GPU.

So currently, I am on AMD Adrenaline’s latest version, 23.8.2 I believe, but I returned my gpu and I am about to get the RX 7800 XT instead of my returned RX 6800. If I do this swap will it mess up my PC because of the drivers? Would I need to uninstall and reinstall my drivers? Or just update them to support the RX 7800 XT?

No damage will be done, completely safe.  It should work by just swapping but if you run into any issues you should use DDU ( Display driver uninstaller ) and completely remove the AMD drivers and to a clean reinstall.

Where to download DDU?
