So I was thinking of getting a 3080  used for my build next but do you think my 750 watt psu can handle it I got a 5700g 16gb of ram but imma get 32 later

is your system going to be the same and are you just upgrading your gpu or is it a full system upgrade? System specs will be helpful but other than that a good power quality 750w psu can handle a 3080 gpu but if I were you getting a 850w psu would be good for future upgrade paths.

Generally, 750W is good enough for your RTX 3080

But PSU capacity should also calculate overall system build such as CPU (especially for high end OC), HDD storage, RGB, Fans, and other peripherals. (GPU does have the highest proportion among all)

In a really broad general opinion, if your 750W PSU is a good brand with good 'efficiency certification' (not the best way to determine PSU quality, but better than nothing) then your upgrade to RTX3080 should be fine

Otherwise, a PSU upgrade to 850W should be great, a good headroom and ease of mind when you're going to upgrade on other PC parts and less cable management in the future.

Here's a great PSU tier list for your reference, you can cross check if your PSU is on the tier list

If it's on Tier A or B, congrats! You have a good PSU

The 5700G would bottleneck the 3080 on 1080p quite a lot, I do hope you're using 1440p.

I mean if its good priced id eat the bottleneck right now. What is the price on the listing youre looking at, OP?

It depends on what PSU you have and if it can handle the high transient power spikes that plague 30-series cards.

I would probably look no lower than 850-1000W just to be safe.

Oh, ebay. No rush then, prices will drop and you might be able to afford outright faster GPU or lower power consumption for same performance on the latest generation if you have active income. But now that youve mentioned your PSU, id be averse on any GPU upgrade at all until you replace it.

Sorry to hear that , in my opinion if you're going to use RTX 3080, it would be safer to upgrade your PSU
