Different DAC or USB Connection?

Go to solution Solved by saintlouisbagels,

The purpose of a DAC is to convert digital information to analog signal.

Since the G560 uses a digital interface (USB) to connect to your PC, that means it has its own built-in DAC.

Anything with a headphone port means the digital info has already gone through the DAC/amp process. iPods, phones, PCs, etc. They all have soundcards (DAC/amp).

Good evening everyone, I am currently in the planning stages to overhaul my whole setup, I'm waiting for the 14th Gen to come out to see what's new before I make a decision there, but for audio, I am planning on getting the beyerdynamic DT 770 80 Ohm, with a Schiit Fulla. But as I move to speakers, I was planning on getting the Logitrrech G560 which utilize a USB plug, so my question is, should I change the DAC to something that has a USB output as well, or just use the Fulla for the DT 770s and plug the G560s straight to the PC via USB? I'm not sure what the difference in sound would be on using a DAC for the G560. Thank you all for the comments and information!

Just a quick reminder that DAC stands for "Digital Analog Converter" and USB is strictly digital. So a DAC having a USB Output wouldn't make any sense. The Speakers you are referring to have their own build in DAC which you can't bypass.

I figured it wouldn't matter, I just wanted to make sure, I'm not much of an audio guy. Thank you for the information!

Just to throw another option out there, if you upgrade to the Hel or a magni/modi stack you can run the 250ohm, but if you didn't have the two next to each other to blind test you'd probably never know the difference.  Just thought I'd make sure you know that's an option.  It would allow more options for headphones later too, but again there are A LOT of good easy to drive options.

Audio go Brrrrrr
