Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: iRacing and general use.

Hi, never posted before and am new to computer building in general. I am helping my cousin with a build and I do know a little bit, but I just want to ensure that things will work for him. He has some hand-me-down components, but not a full computer yet.

His current components are:

Motherboard - MicroATX ASRock B360M IB-R1

CPU - i7-8700

RAM - 2x 8Gb DDR4 2133MHz NeoForza

PSU - 750W gold thermaltake modular

He wants to add

Case - Thermaltake V250

GPU - MSI Ventus RTX 3050

Memory - Samsung 970 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD

Other Info

Windows OS

Will use 1 monitor at 60Hz

1920 x 1080 resolution

Planning to buy stuff soon

Will want to use steering wheel and pedals.

Any info on compatibility or alternate/better components would be very much appreciated!

Might as well build a whole new PC, try selling the the i7 8700 for $50 USD, the board for around $60 USD and the ram for like $20. You could try and have a board, cpu and ram combo together and sell them all together for $100. So now your budget is $1100 and you could swap out the 6700 for a 6700 XT. You can carry over the PSU to the new PC.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).

I love Photography (Using a Canon 60D)

Love F1, my favourite team is Ferrari and my favourite driver is Leclerc

The 120mm fan goes inside the back of that case for an exhaust fan.

The 8700 would be good with a faster GPU than that and you'd still have money for pedals and stuff.  You can usually find a 5700xt used for a lot less than a 3050 and it'll do pretty much everything a lot faster.

You can probably save a fair bit just going with a basic NVMe instead fo a samsung brand one, it won't make a difference.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.
