Do you have a static or dynamic configuration? What routers/switches/modems are you using?

One sec. I'm not sure what static vs dynamic is

Static is when devices have permanent ip addresses and dynamic is where the ip changes every once in a while

Ah. OK. I'm not sure. I'll update this post tomorrow with more info, I probably should have started this when I had more time.

But sometimes when I change something, like turn on a laptops or turn off phones WiFi, the internet works. And internet works for everything else. When I first built my computer same thing, didn't work at all, unless we unplugged network HD. Then all of a sudden it was fine. Now it's not.

But I'll post all the better details tomorrow

You probably are using static ip. Small changes in the network can screw up the whole network when it is configured for static ip. Unless you are hosting a server or have a NAS I recommend using dynamic ip. Is there anyone in your family that might have changed your network settings?

Any recent hardware upgrade to your home network?

What is the network path? (Computer---Stuff-Between-----Modem)

Nope.

Computer-50 ft cable with small break in coating not actual wire, repaired by electrical tape, switch, router, motem.

Switch has slowly blinking light for my computer, normal for rest.

How would I do that

I'm not 100% sure that is the cause of your problem, but that's what it seems like. Don't start changing settings unless you are sure of the problem because that can just make more of a mess.  If that is the case, you would have to go into your router settings and change it from static to DHCP. Then do the same to all of your devices. I think you are better off resetting your router completely if you don't want to go through all that.

Your router should be setup as DHCP (gives devices a dynamic IP address every time it connects to the internet.)

Unless told otherwise**, each device will go looking to your router for an IP address, and the router will give the device an unused IP address.

**Your computer itself may be set to have a certain internal IP address. (It should be automatically set to dynamic though, unless you or someone else changed it.)
