Possible Dead 3080ti

Hi guys,

 

Just thought I'd check in here first before stripping things down and draining my loop.

 

Came home to disgruntled girlfriend who reported the PC had been crashing frequently whist playing a game.

 

Windows management console reported a number of Nvidia driver crashes so that was my first port of call.

 

Double checked Afterburner was at stock (no OC) and same crash straight after loading a game.

 

2 reboots later and the PC failed to reach Windows with the below Pic of my screen straight after the BIOS Splash screen. 9 Blue dots in the bottom left corner. Eek!

 

I'm thinking its a gonner!

Since you got an intel CPU, did you try booting with the iGPU instead ? It is possible that your Windows seitched to iGPU since the GPU crashed too many times ?

Yeh, thought about that but MSI in their infinite wisdom decided to leave out an HDMI or DP port on their MSI MEG Z390 Ace!

 

The PC isn't crashing as numlock and scroll lock respond with the keyboard light switching on and off. Mobo temp leds are also working as they should. After whizzing through the various codes, a successful boot shows CPU temp which it does.

 

I'm pretty sure the PC is booting correctly to the Windows login screen, just no display as the GPU is dying the moment Windows starts to boot.

 

I just tried plugging the PC into another screen (this time with DP) and same. Screen goes blank the moment the BIOS splash screen vanishes.

Well, if your monitor is plugged into your GPU and your BIOS is putting out a splash screen, then your GPU is alive.

I suspect that your Windows got corrupted because of the many crashes.

You can boot on a USB stick and see if you get passed the BIOS splash screen. A USB Windows installer or a Ubuntu live USB should do the trick.

Negative on that one.

 

Literally, the moment the BIOS splash screen vanishes, the screen goes blank.

 

Just tried to boot from Windows USB media and didn't even get to the installation screen.

 

Every so often, I do manage to boot to a desktop but the second I load the GPU, black screen.

If you can boot into BIOS, try clearing the CMOS memory. You can also remove all drives from your computer. The your computer should boot and spits out an error message saying that no boot drives were found.
