Budget (including currency): Within $1000, but as always, the cheaper the better.

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Variety Gaming

Currently rocking an i5-11400f, 3060ti, and 16GB DDR4. I've been wanting to move my system into a new case for a while, and I've been thinking about just making an upgrade during the process. I'm not sure if it would be smarter to just buy another 16GB of DDR4 for $35, to total 32 in the system, or if I should go ahead and buy a new motherboard / CPU and upgrade to DDR5. With Intel's new processors supposedly coming soon, I'm not sure that upgrading to a 12th / 13th gen chipset would be the right move to make right now. Any advice is appreciated, I've only ever built one PC so I'm not much of an expert in planning ahead for stuff like this.

Are there things your current build can't do that you want to be able to do?  If so, what are those things?

If there isn't anything in particular, I wouldn't rush to upgrade.

I agree, if you're happy with what you have now and arent encountering any problems I'd stick with it. Your system is well within the range of a good pc and new stuff will always come out whether u buy it or not.

Resolution and framerate target? If this is just a standard 1440p entry level system id consider purchasing 7900XTX but considering how vague "variety gaming" is, and no mention of cases nor PSU, im not fully comfortable with any specifics.

I've noticed it struggle to hold 60fps under harder loads in iRacing, with larger packs of cars, and Minecraft Java, which I know isn't exactly the most optimized. I've also had Minecraft crash twice recently, due to insufficient RAM. Most other games have ran fine and above 60FPS, but those two in specific really seem to stress out my system.

My monitors are 1080p, and I target 60fps in everything. Most games run well at around or above that. I know "variety gaming" is really vague, but I play everything from side scrollers like Oxenfree, to racing sims like iRacing, eSports titles, AAA story games like Cyberpunk / RDR2, figured it was easier to just throw it all under "variety". I do use all 3 of my monitors on iRacing to get a wider FOV, so it's rendering for all 3. I've noticed it struggle on there, in larger packs of cars, as well as vanilla Minecraft. I'm guessing it's moreso a CPU limit than GPU, although I've had Minecraft crash a few times due to it slurping up my RAM.

Yeah, bingo. But your GPU is also gonna be pretty strained as triple monitor rendering is gonna be more like around 1440p and a half. Whats your case, PSU, and storage?

My case is an NZXT H510, PSU is an EVGA 650w, and I've got a 1TB M.2 + a 2TB SATA drive.
