For a while now I've hated HTC Sense on my HTC One and I hate the lack of customization.  However, I'm a complete noob and want to do it the easy and non-messupable way.  So I have been looking into the CyanogenMod installer.  It seems really good but I'm quite nervous and want to ask a few questions:

1. Is it even safe, is the installer in BETA or fully released?

2. Is there are bigger chance of it failing compared to doing it manually?

3. Do you feel I should even do it, or stay with the stock HTC Sense on android 4.4.2

4. Are Gapps installed by default after the installer is done, or am I left without Google services.  How will I get the Gapps?

5. Will I be able to use other custom ROMS once the installer is done?

These are pretty straight forward questions I think, So I'm wondering these things.  Answer what you can, if you dont know an answer to a question just skip it :)

Thanks in advance guys, :)

It worked great for my Samsung Galaxy S2. I've been rooting for the last 2,5 years on my phone, and CyanogenMod is my faveorite, and the new installer is amazing:-).

Some Gapps come preloadet, but you can get the rest from google play.

I think you should do it but it is ofcourse on your own risk. :-).

Hello,

Back story first: I am one of the first adopters of Nexus 5, I love it. I love stock android. But then, it was stolen from me. I bought Samsung Galaxy S3. I do not like samsung phones and I hate touch wiz. I really hate it. I bought S3 because it is on the official list of supported devices for cyanogenmod, on their website.

1. I do not have any experience in using custom ROMs. When I switched to CM it was my first time. I used the installer, not the cli-way because I was too lazy to study and no time at that time. I did not have any problems using the CM installer.

2. IMO yes because you do not know what commands are being done nor the process, if something bad happens you do not know what to do. But not really dangerous since your phone is officially supported and follow the instructions carefully and things like at least 80% battery and all that kind of stuff.

3. Yeah bro. I am bias, I love stock android.

4. Refer here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps

In my case, I did not download the pack because I did not know that gapps are not included in the first place. Instead, since my apps are tied to my google account and I logged in my google account on the phone, all of my apps are downloaded including gapps.

5. I cannot answer this one.

I chose CM because it is mature and have grown big. My other choice was slimROM. I am very that I switched to CM from touchwiz, hate those bloatwares.

Pardon my English. Not my native language.
