Hi! I am having temperature issues (4770k running way too hot) with my cpu. I have my i7 clocked to 4.4 ghz with 1.22 volts. It is cooled by an h100i. Is there such thing as a cpu being defective because of alot of heat output?

I am having the exact same problem as this guy http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2043193/core-4770k-corsair-h100i-high-temps.html

My temps: idle: 35

Cinebench cpu: 85 (fans on turbo)

Prime 95: 76

Intel burn test: 98+

you cant complain about temps if your overclocking. especially when you overclock AND stress test.

if your still worried reseat the cpu cooler and apply some more thermal paste.

if temps are too much then downclock to around 4ghz and try reduce voltage as much as possible until its stable.

With Haswell, it is just the luck of the draw on if you got a good OCing CPU or not, We like to call it "the silicon lottery", your temps are not bad at all for being overclocked

Im doing 1.2 and temps are crazy high. Unlike alot of other ppl online, im getting 85 degrees Celsius load on 1.2. Is that also luck of the draw?

What are your temps on full load with your cpu overclocked with your 212 evo?

Might want to reseat the H100i and see if that is the issue. The chances of you having a bad CPU, is like trying to win the real lottery, it almost never happens.

Ok. I was aware that the amount of voltage you need to push for a frequency depended on each cpu, but i never knew that cpu temps at a certain voltage depended on each cpu

around 75 and below i dont run it overclocked because when i o/ced ram and gpu at the same time it ran fine during testing but i got random blue screens and ceebs figuring out why

all cpus are tested and manufactured to run perfectly fine and cool at there stock voltages and clocks

they aren't meant to run higher but if they do then yeah its a given that there is more heat output, but if it stays cool then thats just awesome

This is the reason why I love sandy bridge with a decent cooler can even go up to 4.8ghz-5ghz ^_^. we all know we love numbers.

not sure about cpu rma since I have no experience on ever trying it but why not give it a try? put things at default first.

Live your life like a dream.
