Memory/RAM High Usage For No Reason

I just built a new PC and I see this daily. Ram going insanely high. I've never experienced this in 5 PCs I've built for family and relatives over the years.

 

 

In game or just on desktop idle.

 

Processes only using about a gig with only browser and SignalRGB. From what I see.

 

My system specifications are:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7700X

GPU: Red Devil 7900XTX

Memory/RAM: 2x16GB Corsair Dominators @ EXPO 5200MHZ (Also tried T Force Delta 6000MHZ) This doesn't matter on stock or EXPO enabled,

PSU: Corsair 850RMx

Task manager might be frozen on that block. Try installing hwinfo64 and see if it still displays that

hwinfo64 shows the same. 

 

I can't even play games (which is 90% of the system use case) any game I open the memory will hit 90%-99%.

Is the number just frozen or is it moving around a lot (ram usage I mean)

 

Are you sure there aren't any other background tasks open? I'd also try disabling everything you don't need on startup through task manager

Moving up and down but way high. I swapped motherboards as well. Fresh clean windows install. Nothing has helped so far.

 

Only startup programs I have in signalRGB. Nothing else.

Have you done all your windows updates as well as bios and chipset downloads?

Yeah didn’t install any applications till all windows updates were done.

I should’ve added more details in main post. Sorry. 
 

Even installed windows on a brand new NVMe. If I restart it still hits around the high 80s and low 90s. Nothing running manually but signalRGB.

I mean it does still hit high but closing some apps like steam or my browser drop it to 87% like static. Stays there. So as last you said ram usage is more or less frozen right now. If I open something or close it does drop about 2-4 percent.

Do you have any other ram you could try? or another windows install? Or another motherboard/cpu?

I tried T force ram & and my sisters Corsair Dominators that are a 6000mhz (on Expo) but still same thing.

 

I just swapped motherboards 2 days ago I don't really have another then my original. Same issue on both. No other CPU as it is the same and on water so really don't wanna to do that.

 

Also an update. On a clean boot is acts normal. (selective services in system configuration) Soon I go back to normal it does it again. I'm in game and it's only around 40% utilization. The damnedest thing.

Go to Resource Manager Memory Tab and then sort by highest in the Private (KB). Whats the top 5 processes?

This is what I see without  the browser open. Also on desktop at 61%.

So it might be SignalRGB but lets see full total commit on the Commit (KB), sort by highest.

All the other systems have SignalRGB though and no issues with ram usage. Is this what you asking for?

 

Looks different but still high as you can see here, sitting on desktop. Same processes running.

Yeah. Multiple instances of waterfox.exe, is that just your browser in this case? I really dont like recommending registry edit on it but if itll save us a reinstall then so be it. 

 

Try to change the service host split treshold to 32GB. The registry file involved is in hexadecimal thats why theres a discrepancy. Just follow this guide.

Yeah just heard the name once. Firefox ballooning RAM usage in poorly design sites is one of the reason why I moved to Edge, modern day Chromium is just that good in idle tab management nowadays.

With that Regedit. Seems okay for now. Will report back if problem comes up again. So far so good. Thank you. 

 

-UPDATE- No change after day 2. Back up at startup 47% solid. Better than it was in games but still a bit high for my liking.

@SorryBella You believe I should just try a reinstall of windows 11 one final time?
