Upgrading Alienware Area 51m

Hello everyone,

 

some time ago I received an Area 51m laptop. Unfortunately, it only has 2x4GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM installed. I would like to upgrade to 16GB, but the memory is running at only 2400MHz. Is it possible to install faster RAM in this laptop or is the RAM speed locked by DELL?

What RAM speed should I buy?

I'd also be fine with removing the old RAM-Sticks if necessary.

 

CPU: i7-9700

GPU: RTX2080

SSD: 256GB m.2
