Headset mic not working

I could really use some help. 
 

A couple months ago I built my PC. First one I’ve built in 20+ years. It works fine. 
 

My son across the country wants us to play together but I cannot for the life of me get my headset microphone to work. 

I get audio from the headset. Game sounds and his voice. But my voice isn’t being registered with the computer. 

 

I tried my headset that I use on my Xbox Series X and the mic doesn’t work with the splitter I bought (for the speaker and mic.) But it’s a cheap headset that says it’s made specifically for the Xbox. So I bought a new headset that specifically says PC (Logitech Astra A10) and it’s the same. The headset works, I get game and system sounds but I do not get any output from the mic. 

I’ve done everything I can find…


this is a system wide issue not an individual app issue. 

 

I’m at a loss. Any help?

The mic is turned all the way up. It is the default device. 
 

I’ve made sure privacy is turned on. I’ve made sure it’s the default device. Like I said in the OP I’ve tried everything that I’ve found to try. 
 

im about to just give up and take it to someone and pay them to fix it for me. 
 

im truly stumped
