No XMP is just a setting profile that your sticks are verified to run at and push to the motherboard when you enable it. If you run it at different settings it's not on xmp anymore by definition.

 

You can use xmp as a starting point, then increase frequency / decrease timings from there.

This is the methodology youd use when theres no information about your ram ic

 

You just open up thaiphoon burner, check ram ic, then you search that ram ic up to see what other ppls overclocks are like, copy paste, and make adjustments if neccesary
