Looking for video upscaling software

Is there a good free software to upscale video that is locally downloaded?

Maybe something that uses cuda?

Free as in $0? BlackMagic Davinci Resolve apparently has some AI upscaling tools built in now, but I don't know how good they are. 

 

Topaz Labs Video AI is the de facto standard that I'm aware of. It runs locally and your license is good for running the version you bought (on up to two PCs simultaneously) in perpetuity. There's a free trial, but if you want to keep it you'll have to pay about $300.

 

Can't argue with its results though:

 

There are completely free tools out there, like Real-ESRGAN, but they're usually tuned for upscaling animation so they tend to make live footage look like a moving oil painting. (Unless that's changed since the last time I checked; this space is moving fast.)

$300 damn. I'm surprised Nvidia hasn't made this part of their Suite yet or charge for it.

 

I tried video2x but not really getting good results.

I'll try Real-ESRGAN tonight.
