(info/warning) EK AIO killed fan header..

NorKris

So my EK AIO killed a fan header (1A)

i did only run the pump on the header, and also the pump was not at max speed

How could this happen? well it turns out that EK thought it was a good idea to make it ARGB 12v

meaning that the bling was pulling power from the PWM header...

Which aio?

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

I'm unable to identify most coolers by sight alone. I have to sniff and taste them, too, so you'll need to name it. 😆

Shouldn't you have used a "pump" header that has higher amperage?

DRGB they promote is 3 pin 5V ARGB..  it comes with it's own ARGB header.. doesn't it run the pump RGB too?.

and... as mentioned above.. why didn't you use the pump header that usually are 2Amp?

Product is also EOL.. end of life.. probably a reason for that.

the 3 PIN ARGB is rly a 2pin, Data and ground 😛

it has a PWM that runs the pump and power to the RGB.

i have never seen a pump (AIO)  that pulls 1A
