Depends on the power supply, but almost anything modern can 'sense' the input voltage and handle it fine. Older units have a physical switch that if set wrong can cause literal fireworks.

I took a 120v surge protector with me when I moved to china. (220v) it flipped the breaker for the whole hotel floor when I plugged it in. This was just the surge protector, nothing else was plugged in yet.
