Hello! I am currently looking for a new CPU. Currently, I have an i3-10100f and I am looking for an upgrade. My motherboard supports 11th/10th Gen Intel LGA 1200 CPUs. As for my GPU, I have a Rx 6600xt and I am looking for something that can be well enough paired up with it. I have about a 160 USD budget.

Thanks!

Honestly.  I have both an 11400F and 11900KF and used them in my z590 board.  That's literally the lowest and highest in 11th gen lineup, but they only differ with 6 vs 8 cores and some extra boost overhead.  But on the other hand, in a good board 11400F can be locked in all-core boost which at that point gets close to the higher offering, in fact I noticed no game improvement going from i5 to i9, that saying a lot about both the great value of the i5 and poor cost benefit of the i9.  I'd get the i5, I'm even more impressed with it having upgraded to the i9.

For your GPU you want PCIE 4.0, and that means 11th gen processor.  So 11400F is the recommendation.

Thank you for your recommendation! My motherboard does have PCIE 4.0 so I'll definitely look into that CPU! Should I go used or brand new?

I got mine used last year.  Being a non-K chip I'd say it's much less likely that it was abused.  Should be safe.  I paid $150 last year, so should be a little bit less now.

Or you can do what the other guy said, and save money but not have PCIE 4.0...  I have not benchmarked your GPU on PCIE 3.0 x8, that you'd have to research into.

I see the CPU you recommended for about 120 USD, looking at reviews and seeing it compared to my current CPU with the rx 6600xt it seems like the 11400F is definitely better for gaming compared to the 10100F

What the other guy is implying is that the performance jump (at least in benchmarks) on the 12th-gen is really drastic, and some of the models are rather cheap.  It could very well make economic sense to go that route if you're a savvy shopper...  Of course a board replacement is a bit more involved, and you'd have to re-activate Windows after a board replacement, and depending on the type of license that may or may not be a problem.

I'm confused. We never talked about 12th gen chips?

Otherwise youd be entering new cpu is cheaper and faster than old one territory.

Even 12th gen i3 is very competitive against 11th gen chips and is cheaper($90 vs $120).  There is logic in spending money on LGA1700 and not spending any more money on LGA1200.  Whether you want a newer platform with an upgrade path is for you to decide, I'm just saying that it is a valid point.
