High CPU Temps

Hii

Since about two years i have my custom water loop setup, and ever since the beginning i felt that my CPU Temps were too high.

Here is my Setup:

Components:

CPU: AMD R9 5900X

GPU: RTX 3090 Strix

Watercooling:

CPU: EK-Velocity D-RGB

GPU: EK-Quantum Vector Strix RTX 3080/3090 D-RGB - Nickel + Plexi

Pump/Reservoir: EK-Quantum Kinetic TBE 300 D5 PWM D-RGB

Radiator 1: EK-CoolStream SE 360 (Slim Triple)

Radiator 2: EK-CoolStream PE 360 (Triple)

Pump runs at about 70%

Fans run at about 30-40%

My temps at Idle are between 50-60C

While gaming the max Temps can get up to 90C (See Screenshot).

I know that Ryzen can get a bit hotter than AMD, but this is not normal right?

I already tore apart everything twice in those two years, once replacing the whole CPU Waterblock.

The first time i removed the CPU Block there was good paste spread across the whole CPU, and no excessive thermal paste.

Thanks for your inputs 🙂

Best Regards

can i ask if you took apart the CPU block and cleaned out any residue caught in the tiny micro fins directly under that slit in the jet plate ?

I clean mine yearly. A quantum velocity  for the 5900x

I found that over time temps would slowly increase du to a reduction in flow. nothing too dramatic but very noticable

Stock voltage curve can be way too difficult to cool on Zen3 CPUs. Have you tweaked PBO2?

Put the pump at 100% there's no reason to have it going slower

30 40% for fans is a tad slow, depends on fans tho, try to have them run around 1000rpm

Yes i did that, after about 1 Year i cleaned the whole thing (CPU & GPU Block). The temps did not get significantly better tho 😞

No i have not changed anything, also no Overclocking. With PBO2 do you mean the Percision Boost thing in Ryzen Master?

I know its not the "maximum", but my PC is right next to my ear when i watch Videos sometimes on Speakers, so i want it to be silent. The Pump starts to become noticeable for me at about 70% speed. I have however tried upping it to 100% with no significant changes in temperature (maybe 3-5C difference)

Same goes for the Fans, with the amount of Radiators i think i should be able to get away with only 40%. There are 3 Noctua Fans on the Slimmer radiator and 3x fancy Corsair RGB Fans on the thicker radiator. I know, not ideal, but the other way around would not have looked as good. Then an additional 3x Corsair fans for Airflow. The Fans run between 600 - 900 RPM.

I would add some spacers to the mount in an effort to get more mounting pressure. I also disagree with the comment that stock Zen3 is hard to cool.

same here and i run a 5900x and normal runs in cinebench 23 which is not too difficult i score 22739 with max temps stable at 79c

EDIT just to confirm I ran the CB 23 test just now and scored 22796 max temp reached 79c

excellent result and temps but sadly we have confirmed that for some reason the OP does seem to have an issue as his temps are not in order.

Kinda confirm that bad temps are due to too slow pump and fan speed, and bad fans

600rpm isn't enough to cool a rad
