Hi all,

i need help in configuring build for my wife. She wants to go into 3D modeling. On the other hand i want to be able to use the rig to play with machine learning (optional).

Budgetwise, i wonder if RTX4090 will work (does SLI scales) or A6000 will be better?

It will be paired with Threadripper PRO 5965WX + 64GB RAM What do You think?

Cheers, Jakub

i think you're going with way to much hardware for two people that are just starting with their tasks. you should probably master the fields on resonable hardware first before determining you need a hardware upgrade to match your skill levels.

and or , if you just want to build a high end machine for no reason you can just say that as well without needing to justify it.

Given the use of Unreal Engine, the RTX 4090 should offer better performance. However the RTX A6000 has 48GB of memory. Double the 24GB of the RTX 4090.

If cost is not a consideration I would go for the GPU with more memory. With the appropriate motherboard one can usually add additional GPU to improve performance.

SLI is typically only used in gaming.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

4090 is way faster than an A6000 (40~70% faster), and I doubt you'll be needing more than 24GB of vram as someone who's just starting.

SLI is not used for anything other than games, the 4090 doesn't even have support for it (nor nvlink), but it's actually not needed for most applications that are multi-GPU aware.
