As i stated at this topics title i am thinking to buy Intel's "Arc A770 16GB GDDR6 Limited Edition" as my new graphics card.

From the first time i saw this card i don't know what happened in me but i fell in love with this card but loving something and using something are two different things.

Is there anyone here that has anything to say about this GPU before i do the big step? (Yes for me this is not a big but HUGE step.)
I will be glad to hear from people that has this card about what problems and the surprises they encounter while using it.

I need your help with information.

Thanks in advance everyone that will spare some of their time to answer this question of mine.

I don't have it but
1. Most reviewers agree that it has gotten very good over the past 6 months
2. You should see what specific apps you want to use and see if they run well with the a770
For example: I play alot of csgo and edit on davinci resolve, so I'll check benchmarks for those 2 apps and then check a few more.

this is how I would go about doing my research.

  • CPU
    r5 5600x
  • Motherboard
    Arous b550 pro ac v1
  • RAM
    Tcreate 32gb ddr4 3600 cl18
  • GPU
    1660 super
  • Storage
    SN570 1tb
  • PSU
    Corsair CX750
  • Audio
    Lots of chi-fi iems
  • Operating System
    Windows 11 (lastest)

Honestly thank you for your reply.

Well honestly i've tried checking for benchmarks on youtube for the 2-3 games that i play but sadly i didn't had any results.

Maybe it's how i am searching.

I will search again.

FYI:

The games that i play are

Dota2, Digimon Masters Online, Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel but after the upgrade i am planning to play more games since my new computer will have the "juice" to allow it.

If you don't have any specific applications in mind that need something like tensor cores or something that intel cards don't have, then you should be good. Just don't overpay for the card. It's not worth paying much above msrp (same goes for almost all other cards in this price bracket)

Well this card at my country is currently 62.09 euros over msrp (318,27) vs (380,36) which honestly doesn't bother me that much.

Oh well that the EU. If the other cards are cheaper then I'd go with them, but I doubt that's the case.

My country is pretty similar too, we pay 2x to 3x the msrp lol

I use one:

It’s improved pretty dramatically over the last couple of months of driver updates, where even in titles using its major limitation, DX9/10, it’s running about where you expect a card of its tier to run.

I use mine for Halo MCC, Insurgency Sandstorm, CSGO, SecondLife, Skyrim SE with mods, cities skylines, GTA V and IV and a bunch more games and it’s holding its own in 4k no problem.

For older titles I still recommend forcing Vulkan because it performs better for some really picky DX9 titles.

The rgb software for it is top tier, non bloatware, and doesn’t need to run in the background. However the card does have a dedicated rgb cable which requires a usb 2.0 header. That was a pain in the ass for me and my mini itx system, it won’t be a problem for a regular build.

Thank you for your time and for the picture. I got to say looks wise along with the "ice cold blue" combination is AWESOME.

Maybe it's me but the simplistic look of it after all this extremes, screens and everything this feels like a breeze of fresh air.

Performance wise did you ever had any strange crash or error the past 2-3 months?

It’s been stable in anything that isn’t a complete outlier. Haven’t had it crash except for very early on right after it came out, Halo 2 on MCC would crash all the time. That stopped happening a few weeks later and now all the games on MCC run fine.

GTA IV is probably the only other one that’s unstable but that’s an Xbox 360 game from 2008 poorly ported to PC which I’m forcing to run Vulkan with DXVK so that’s just a gamble in general. It usually plays perfectly fine but it’s one of those games where changing your graphical settings can sometimes hard crash it. So I’ve been changing graphical settings with a configuration file instead.

Thats a pretty niche scenario but if you’re really into DX9 ported games for some reason it would be a limiting factor.

From what i've seen around the net Intel cards for some unknown reason are converting older DX to strings in to DX12 that's why they have lower FPS and crashing problems. If only they start supporting older DX this problems will go away but i guess they only want to look forward.

I will keep this post open since i want more people to tell me their experience with this specific card.

Again thank you for replying to my question.

I have it.  The limited set of titles I played all worked fine and I had an enjoyable experience.

Such as:

The Last of Us

Prey (2017)

Terminator: Resistance

Quake II RTX

I also had a great experience in Linux with Wayland.

DirectX versions below 12 use DXVK incorporated into the driver, as far as I know.

The real downside of it is that it doesn't make sandwiches when I'm hungry.

I'm a used parts bottom feeder.  Your loss is my gain.

I like people who tell good RGB jokes.

Also played through Ion Fury and Ashes 2063/Afterglow, not really demanding titles but a point for compatibility.

Thank you for the information you're sharing with me and everyone.

I honestly think to buy this card for multiple reasons but i am still waiting for possible older DX support.

If they do it the right way i am grabbing it instnatly.
