Hello! First time poster here,

I'm in the process of a new build utilizing an [ASRock B650E Taichi] mobo and a [Gigabyte 4080 Gaming OC] GPU.

For whatever reason, I cannot get this motherboard to detect this GPU...

I've tested the GPU in 2 other builds (AM4 and AM5, both ASUS) with no issues, and I've tried an ASUS 1080 and an MSI 4090 on this respective motherboard with no issue as well.

Tried both 3-1 power adapter and a 12vhpwr cable, either way the fans and lights engage but no detection by mobo.

BIOS is up-to-date, graphics drivers installed (while using the 1080 listed above), and I checked to make sure the 4080 had updated firmware.

Messaged ASRock and they just sent me an RMA form, but really hate to go through that song and dance.

Instead I'll likely see about selling the card and buying a different brand 4080 to test, but thought I'd see if anyone has had experience with this particular issue/combination.

Thanks!

I have the GPU plugged directly into the first x16 (gen 5) slot. There isn't enough room to use the bottom one from the looks of it due to the cards thickness.

It just appears that every other GPU I can get my hands on works with this motherboard, and this GPU works in every other build I can test -- however the two just don't like each other lol.
