So basically, my notebook’s (Acer Nitro 5 AN515-44-R1C6 , EU model) screen is behaving weirdly.

It has started a few months ago, that after a bumpy train ride, the bottom ~2cm of the screen only worked, if i heated it a little bit by gaming on the notebook, or with a hairdyer, or even if it was cold, but i was playing CS:GO.

Since then, the situation has worsened every time i took that train ride, and now, half of my screen does not work, which is not really a big problem, since i have a second screen, but it concerning.
And that would imply that i have to replace the screen (which is difficult since i can’t find a replacement screen in Hungary).

however, when i open CS:GO or Aimlab (both played on 4:3 stretched), the screen works, but it flickers a little bit where it does not work in windows or other applications (even games like trackmania or forza horizon 5).

if you still have warranty on the machine i would try that first.

If you're confident in your skills with a screwdriver and a guitar pick you can open your case and check whether the screens ribbon cable is connected properly.

Of course make sure you have the newest drivers installed in case that contributes to the problem.

Since you don't have problems with a different screen i would think its probably the ribbon cable, the screen or the screens controller. GPU should be

I have tried fixing the ribbon, however, its not easily accessible for me, since the screen is held in place by double sided tapes, which i dont have at home (gonna buy some next week probably). Also, the screen connector is on the bottom left of the screen, and heating helps it if i do it in the right side.

However, the screen works if i heat it near the right bezzel, or when playing csgo/aimlab in 4:3 stretched, which makes me verz confused.

Also, it has very weird ghosting going on, after shutting down the notebook for 2+ hours, a site which i have visited before shutting down, was still visible a little bit.

Update: (I finally found the EDIT button)

Since then, i uninstalled both of my GPU drivers (AMD for the integrated, NVIDIA for the dedicated), the screen was still not working perfectly.
After that, (I have not yet reinstalled them), I started up Aim Lab (in native FullHD resulotion), some times later I used Windows + L to lock my computer, however, the screen was perfectly working. Then I opened my notebook and it was working normally, until I alt+tab'd to Aim Lab, then back to steam/chrome, where it went bad again.
And also this is replicable, currently writing this from the notebook, on a part of the screen which was hardly visible.
