I recently bought one of those computer chess boards that uses RFID chips in the pieces to know when and where you move, after doing the research on YT the algorithm has been suggesting loads of chess videos.

One of them has Google Bard vs. ChatGPT, and it is hilarious.

Starts out like a normal chess game and then goes off the rails with illegal moves and extra pieces added to the board.

I haven't laughed that much in a while.

In case people haven't watched the video the commentary by the host adds a lot to the humor of what the bots are attempting to do.

It is interesting that these AIs can get the rules for language down pretty well but can't follow the rules for a game.  Also kind of interesting to think about why they made the moves they played, it couldn't be from specific articles about making a move or they would be correct.  Early game they were playing correct because there are plenty of opening books they could look at, middle game they made mostly correct moves that must have been grabbed from various games, but at the end game they were just grabbing at moves that must have been at the end of published games even if the pieces didn't match up.
