First Build, Please Advise

Go to solution Solved by JonS77,

Your list is pretty solid with the 13700k and the 4070 for everything you've mentioned you want to do. My only suggestions would be to replace your NVMe with the 'Western Digital Black SN850X 1 TB'. It's around 30 bucks more expensive but a much much better and snappier choice. And to get a higher wattage PSU for possible future upgrades, a good PSU will last you 10 years and a higher wattage will give you good efficiency and future proofing.

Also this 2TB sata SSD is a really good option for your archiving needs since 1TB is going to be pretty small and I would only write anything I install on the NVMe and leave all the downloads and archives to something else. I don't see an archive drive in your list so if you're planning to use an HDD, you could consider ditching it for this SSD for major acoustic improvements since HDDs are incridibly loud. These will add around 100$ to your budget but it's worth it in my opinion. The PSU suggestion is more optional.

Hey everyone,

Budget (including currency): 1500 USD

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I want my PC to do a little bit of everything, both gaming and productivity. I mainly play Minecraft, but I also want to expand my horizons into other games (I'm currently a MacBook user). I'll be coding on this computer, but I don't think that takes a lot of resources. I also need it to run Adobe apps and 3D stuff (i.e. Unity, Blender). I'm not a video editor, but I tend to make something every now and then, and I just need it to be decent when I do.

Other details

This is my first time doing anything PC-building, so I've gotten some input from my friends. They helped me make a parts list, and I want some feedback. I have a 1440p 144hz monitor and other peripherals; I just need the PC.

Here's what my friends helped me make:

Thanks!

Howdy!  Welcome to the Forum and welcome to PC Building 🙂  List looks pretty solid, one can always change some things here and there to save a buck or two but all in all it looks good.

13600kf + 3090 + 32gb 3200c16

140$ underbudget with a much better gpu, you can fit a 13700f or a ryzen 7700 (along with accompanying mobo + ddr5) in this budget

Also make sure you can return the gpu incase faulty
