I'm building a computer and I bought 3 120mm fans, and the case came with 2 140mm fans on the front. The case can have 1 120 in the back, 2 120mm on top and 3 120mm (2 140mm) in the front. How should I orient the fans? I know you're supposed to have positive pressure, but if I had a 120mm exhaust at the back, 2 intake on top, and 2 intake in front, that just seems like way too much positive pressure. Is too much positive pressure a thing? Would it be better to have the 2 140mm fans exhaust at the front and the other 3 120mm as air intake on the top and back?

I'd put the 3 fans you bought in the front.  120x3 front and then 1 exhaust, maybe one of the 140 from the front.  I am not a fan ( hurdur ) of fans in the top if you run a normal tower aircooler as they would distrupt the airflow through the aircooler to the back fan.

Would it help if I said that I'm using a stock intel cooler?

I'd say then: Keep the stock front fans, add one at the rear, that should be sufficient.  If you want you can add one top exhaust as well, should keep slight positive pressure while exhausting enough air. That should also keep decent airflow over your motherboards VRM heatsinks etc 🙂 Its all about replacing the air inside the case as fast as possible.

Then why did you buy mostly useless case fans rather than a decent cooler ??? Just for looks ?

The fans were on a really good deal and the pc is running an i5-11400, which a stock cooler should do just fine with. and maybe a little bit of looks too...

Prob is the stockrap Intel cooler is loud, and case fans will only add to it (esp. cheapo ones, what did you get ??)
