M.2 PCIe gen 4 x4 only give you double the sequential writes, and reads, but that’s it. Hardly any casula user normal use case can the advantage of it.

 

It doesn't do anything for random R/W or latency, and the cheap 1TB gen 4 ssd hardly even go that much faster then PCIe 3.0.

like that NV2 that you are asking, it’s speeds don't exceed even the PCIe 3.0 speeds. 
 

So I'm asking if there's something I don't know, that forces you to buy PCIe 4.0 if your budget is tight ( like the PS5 or something ).

Hi, I put the links for both products here. Both are gen 4. Does WD black have more advantage since its almost twice the price than Kingston.

I'm confused on which one to choose...

The WD would have better performance, cache for faster small downloads and also more reliable fast storage

I hit 700W on an i5 with a NHD15

Also I'm 14 so please just confirm anything I say with someone more experienced

WD SN770 is way faster, NV2 is a Pcie4 drive with Gen3 speeds... but those are already really good irl

Usually it's more sensible to prioritize storage quantity, so get a 2TB NV2 for the same price than a 1TB SN770 🙂

Give me some links to the shop so i can look for the ssd. there should be something decent there beside these two. does it have to be PCIe gen 4?

The SN770 is excellent, but the KC3000 is faster and cheaper at that store.

You can also consider the s70 blade, as it’s little cheaper.
but yes, if performance matter, then go KC3000.

Gen4 M.2 isn't that big of a deal? Then what about Gen4 M.2 Slot that too not that big of a deal?

The NV2 is a cheap Dram less TLC/QLC (part lottery whatever they have in stock) drive, despite being gen4 it runs at about gen3 speeds

Great for casual cheap storage

 

the SN770 is better but still dramless

 

as others mentioned, consider Kingston KC3000, that's a much more fair comparison

 

they are different tier drives, NV2 is cheap storage, SN770 is general use
