Xbox One controller stick drift normal?

Mark Kaine

i bought this controller 2 weeks ago, played about 5h daily and on Sunday the left stick just started drifting like crazy making it basically useless (especially for OW where one wrong step usually means death)

i looked it up and apparently thats a common issue, but how common is it really?  i mean not even 2 full weeks ... why are these sticks failing this easily?  Note i think it makes sense that its the left stick usually as that just gets used more (aiming in shooters, etc)

Sad, because i was quite happy with it otherwise... i got my money back from the store i bought it, but now im unsure if i should get another one, i mean it didn't even last 2 weeks... (my old xbox 360 controller lasted 15 years lol)

ive never had any stick drift issues with xbox one controllers, and they feel great, could you link the controller where you bought it please?

well, seems the newer models are trash in comparison,  xbox one notorious left stick drift (just google it) elite "2" awful face buttons that basically need double press to register... Not that Sony is much better,  but xbox controllers used to be a lot more durable in my impression.

So i guess hard NO, i just wanted some more impressions, but as said if you google this issue it seems *very* common for this particular controller (and the "elite 2" which is somehow even worse )

maybe u got one from a failed batch, or youre too rough with controllers, i never fkin blast my thumb on it trying to turn my car or character, jut go toill u hit the edge, thats the most, any controller would have stick drift if you push it behond the limits litteraly

The newer (Series X/S) models are indeed trash. My Series X controller got stick drift in less than 2 years from purchase. My Xbox One controller that is several years older is still trucking along with no drift. The XB1 controller feels more well-built too. Not to mention, I HATE the d-pad on the Series controllers. It is SO LOUD.

yeah the older controllers seem to be a lot better... but since they're old u can't get them anymore basically.... funny thing i had a *brandnew* 360 controller still from my xbox 360  .... so i now bought a dongle to use it with pc... works perfectly fine, but i still have the problem that I would need 1 or 2 extra buttons...

So now i got a razer wolverine V2 and its the best from all the new controllers i tried now hands down, also the extra button placement is a lot more convenient to me.

Oh and i agree, i like clicky but the Xbox controller had a really unpleasant sound and the dpad still felt kinda mushy (but ok)

And yeah, elite 2, s series... all trash, cost a gazillion bucks and come with glaring defects out of the box... oof.

PS: also the Razer is *huge* but it doesn't feel like it, i have small hands and its really lightweight and comfy to hold (oh and it has adjustable rumble which is nice too)

it really feels almost like a 360 controller,  even though you wouldn't believe it just from the looks...
