Hello! I have had my XFX RX 6800 XT for about 7 months now. I am ok with its overall performance but its coil wind ( already had a in depth discussion on this forum ) is still a huge downside. With all the new cards coming out is there any that anyone could recommend that is cheaper and has comparable performance to my card? I would sell what I have and get something a little cheaper. I mainly play CSGO,Apex Legends, Fortnite, and some other solo titles at 1080p 144hz.
thank you and please be gentle, I am very new to pc parts

i would upgrade to a still last gen but now much cheaper 6900 xt or 6950xt from xfx or powercolor

you dont need an aio for anything but i9 cpus or heavy oc jobs just get an nh-d15 or peerless assassin

MARK THE SOLUTION AS SOLUTION

is there any

Well the 4000 series and 7000 series Radeon is also plagued with it, every computer parts are. I heard that a lot of the 4070Ti are less plagued by it but really its a by-model basis and even then 1 wrong variable and youd have a whine anyway.

Thank you for that info, honestly my old trust rx 580 was the most silent and well performing piece of equipment I have had. I never had to push it to get performance and it never made a sound, unfortunately games have gotten a little beefier and I dont want to play games on low settings anymore. What is the general consensus on the new 4060 and the new 7600? I have seen good and bad

Over the years I have found that it usually isn't too difficult to eliminate most coil whine with the exception of coil whine that originates on an enclosed video card the problem being the card is enclosed and therefore difficult to work on.

I have repaired/fixed coil whine from motherboards, pci cards, and some older video cards that were not enclosed.  The repair/fix process means the origination of the whine must be located first.  After the origination is located it can be easy to fix.  First of course, the machine must be powered off.  I use a hot-glue gun to better insulate the offending device causing the whine.  After using the hot-glue, the device must be allowed to completely cool down.  Once the cool down process is complete, the machine can be powered back on and used as normal.  Of course, keep an ear open to check if the device was completely isolated.

I learned this method while working for the Dow Chemical Corporation, Louisiana Division back in 1980.  As I said, I have used this method several times or more over the years without any difficulty.

Take Care and Good Luck.

If the component that causes the whine doesnt need cooling from the thermal pad to the heatsink id absolutely do this if OP has the knack and is super disturbed by the coil whine.

Yes the gpu does turn on! I cap my fps on most games to keep the whine as low as possible. Also, with source 2 around the corner I hope that higher end gpus get more use
