Hey,

I was wondering which EV chargers you installed at LMG for employees to use. My company is considering adding a few more chargers, and prices vary wildly.

They would be lvl2 chargers (48A max). Just curious which chargers LMG opted to install, and if you have any good or bad things to say about them.

I saw that Tesla released a J1772 version of their Wall Connector. Just curious about your experiences for a more commercial outdoor use.

Not sure which they use.

Should be said as a note, EV charging at work in some places can count as a taxable benefit.  Not that really auditors will be able to check that and assess employees...but in theory there may be a day where they start regulating that and that means needing to track usage (which might cause some issues if there are just dump level chargers).  Just my 2 cents on the topic, I don't have any recommendations though.

What if they're metered chargers on a network like EVGo or ChargePoint, and the office sets the rate to their cost? That way they're just passing the commercial electric cost on to the employee, not profiting off them or giving them additional compensation?

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Oh yea, in a case like that it's not a taxable benefit.  (Generally taxable benefits arise from when you receive some sort of benefit for free/reduced cost from the company, such free charging, free parking in a city where there is only paid parking, when Linus gives away computer parts to employees)

Even with EV charging, I bet no one gets really dinged on it...even some sites claim it's not a benefit (although the official Canada one does say it is)...but realistically it would be tough to audit but I could see it one day becoming a thing where companies are forced to track the actual usage per employee.  Then again tax laws vary area to area; which is why when providing something to employees it's usually good to at least consider if it might be (and contacting an accountant, because some places even EV charging might not be considered a benefit)
