Hey

It won't be unusable. It'll be a pretty good drive. But if you spend like 10 bucks more for dram cache I think its justified

I would get a 970 evo plus 1tb for 60 bucks imo since its a good price drive

DRAM Cache makes a fairly big difference that you will actually notice - but only as a Windows/Boot Drive. This is because of what DRAM does...

DRAM is essentially just like your System RAM. It stores data temporarily for active programs and instantaneous access to small files associated with those programs.

What this means is that slight lag/delay can be felt when running applications and accessing lots of small files very quickly on a drive that does NOT have DRAM. However, it is still an M.2 SSD so its not like the PC will actually feel slow; there is just a slight, noticable difference.

To deal with quick file access, a drive with DRAM cache is recommended for your Windows/Boot Drive while secondary drives for mass game storage or whatever do not need DRAM cache whatsoever for any reason really.

I personally run a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB in my new system I just built. It has 2GB DRAM Cache and oh boy is this PC quick. It was a pretty good deal at $129.99 on sale from $159.99. Avoid the newer 990 Pro, its much more pricey for hardly any more performance.
