Gtx 800 Series?

Go to solution Solved by flibberdipper,

It will probably be like this, in my opinion.

850 = 760

860 = 770

870 = 780

880 = 780Ti

880Ti = ?

How do you think they will perform compared to the 700 or 600 Series? What price point are you thinking also? Would you rather go 780/ti or 800 Series?

No one knows for sure, but what we do know is the 800-series desktop cards will have significantly more performance per watt - the main focus is to get as much performance out of the GPU's as possible without upping the wattage. They should also get a lot more VRAM too.

I know nothing about GPU manufacturing, I'm just saying what I read about it.

Hang on, let me just get the Tardis... Oh damn, I don't have one.

None of us know, but based on previous generations, we're probably looking at 25-30% improvement over the previous generation of cards.

I personally am going to wait until the next series comes out, mainly because of what I've seen in the past, and I can wait.

I think this will be pretty similar to the past couple of years.

When the 6xx series came out, everyone seemed to go nuts (At least in the community I was involved with) over how the 670 performed better than a 480, 570, and even the 580... while remaining cooler and consuming less power.

Then the 7xx series released (Or at least most if it did, if not all) and the 770 beat out that crazy $500 GTX 680 at like 75% of the price.

I suspect the same will happen in the next generation, so I plan on getting (Or at least the equivalent of) a GTX 870, as I think it'll somehow be even more impressive than the current 780, at a lower price. :)

So, what would be the card you would get NOW to tide you over until the 800-series gets released?

For 1080 gaming, not concerned about Ultra settings on everything.

Probably really similar (860 will more than likely be close to the 760's pricing and so on).

Well, I tend to use http://www.inet.se, but they don't carry 265 at all, so have to use a site that compares all stores and prices, http://www.prisjakt.nu. Not that the prices tell you much, I guess.

It seems the cheapest that card goes for is 1449kr (from a reputable store), compared to EVGA 750Ti at 1539kr, that is a pretty good price. Especially since you can Crossfire it in a pinch, but the 750Ti can't be SLIed.

Is the Sapphire the way to go or should I look into other brands as well? Tho I did enjoy my passively cooled Sapphire way back in the day.

Also, I'm not a viking, I'm a Finn originally, so I'm a barbarian (at least according to old Civ-games) :P

Sapphire is a solid brand, but look at others too, read reviews, speeds ,etc
