Hello,
I want to start with the fact that
I planned to buy Framework, but even after 2 years of waiting it still isn't available in my country.

I'd love something similar to it, but they are one of a kind company and the only other project I heard of was from Dell I reckon and that was only concept.

At least if it can have "open" BIOS. Last laptop I had was 1300€ HP and it had the most basic looking BIOS. I couldn't do anything, not even disconnect battery through it.

  • Country: Czech Republic (Europe)
  • Budget: 1260 - 1900 € (the less the better)
  • Open to refurbs/used? Yes
  • Size: Any
  • Weight: Any (the less the better)
  • Purpose: College (IT - programming, some 3D work, photo editing)
  • OS: Windows / Linux (dual-boot capable, I heard some laptops aren't playing nicely)
  • Battery life: at least 6 (I am fine with having a powerbank -> laptop needs to be USB-C charging capable, even if not full speed)
  • SPECIAL REQUIRMENT: Needs to be resellable in a 6-12 months as I have hope Framework will come out. I get this might be stupid request, but I bet that some brands or models are not as desired on used market. Hence the price range being so wide (higher retail price = better resell price?)

Thanks!

Why do you want a framework? They’re just overpriced.

They are not overpriced. You get what you pay for. I look at Framework as a normal priced laptop and prices from other brands are substituted by the fact it doesn't have any life outside it's plastic or metal coffin.

No idea why you cling on the fact I wanted Framework considering I cannot buy it.

I would look toward your big brands' business/enterprise models, like Dell Latitude, Lenovo Thinkpad, HP Probook - usually pretty good availability of replacement parts wherever, pretty serviceable, meant to be worked on by IT departments so usually has some element of configurability. There's also usually a pretty robust used market for laptops like these.
