Should I upgrade my CPU?

I've had my current CPU for about 3 years now, and it works fine not really had any issues

however I wouldn't mind increasing my performance when rendering content and playing games....

My specs are :

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700

Mobo: B450M-A

RAM: Corsair LPX 3600mhz (Currently at 3000mhz as mobo or cpu doesn't allow me to go higher)

GPU: GTX 1080 TI

PSU: Corsair TX650M

I've heard 400 series boards now can support AM5 with Bios Update, So I was planning on getting the Ryzen™ 7 5800X3D

Will I see a noticeable improvement?

and

Is it worth it to upgrade, or should I save up more and get the 7000 series with a new mobo and ddr5 ram?

Only if your current cpu hits 100% usage on the cores and tasks you currently do

You can be CPU limited in games without getting even close to 100% utilization.

I'd use GPU utilization as a better metric. If when you game, you are not 96%+ GPU usage, then you probably have a CPU limitation.

The 5800X3D will absolutely result in large game performance increases; however, you won't really feel too much of that with just a 1080ti. That said, some games that are very CPU dependent or that lean more heavily to CPU will still gain in the frametimes.

Didn't quote you, but it's also difficult to gauge CPU usage in individual cores due to SMT. Sometimes it can be hard to determine. GPU utilization is easy at a glance.

It will still do better than a 2700x.

I'd say they should consider what their workload is mostly going to be - if it's CPU render then perhaps consider a similarly priced 5900x depending on their motherboard. If it leans more to games, then 5800X3D might be a better choice and is a little more forgiving on motherboards.

If it is this:

I would say a 5900X is probably a bit too much for it. If you're spending more time doing render then perhaps consider upgrading the platform.

My CPU isn't even a 2700x, its just a regular 2700,

It performs well, I mostly use programs such as After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator

when it comes to games, I play modded Skyrim (1000+ mods) as well as League of Legends and CSGO.

and Yes that IS my  motherboard, if it can't handle 5900 I don't mind upgrading Mobo as well, but at that point shouldn't I just go for the 7000 series ?
