Hey guys,

I upgraded my PC today from Intel platform to amd platform

My issue is I can't get the PC to boot for some reason. I was able to narrow it down to ram stick creating some sort of issue.

My previous spec was

Intel i5 8400

Msi b360 pro vh

Gskill 2400 ram 8 gigs

Crucial 2666 ram 8 gigs

GTX 1060 6gb

Crucial bx500 1tb

And a 1tb segate harddrive

My upgrade spec is

AMD Ryzen 5 3600

Msi a320m pro

Rest all specs r same .

Now before you point out the obvious(respectfully). I have been using these 2 different brands of memory sticks for a while and it's worked well in my old platform however the new platform just doesn't like the crucial ram for some reason it just refuses to boot the PC. However the PC boots with the 2400 MHz ram without any hitch. In my old rig I also oc'd the ram to 2666 MHz to match the speeds which also worked. I have tried running the stick in single channel memory for both sticks of ram unfortunately only the 2400 MHz gskill ram worked. But when I put the crucial 2666mhz ram in the old platform it still works and posts as it used to. I am so confused at this point that might just straight out buy a 3200 MHz 8*8 ram kit.

Is it me or the AMD CPU just doesn't want the 2666mhz ram.

Can y'all let me know where and what is going wrong, I am on a tight budget was going to sell this CPU and motherboard but now I can't and might have to send back the CPU and motherboard. I have a week's windows let's see with some troubleshooting if I can get it to work

Looks like the motherboard does not support the ram. It however supports a 2400 Mhz ram to be overlocked to 2666 Mhz.

If you look at other motherboards like ASROCK B550M, in the specs it is written that upto 3200 without OC is supported, and anything above is to be overclocked (selecting OC profiles in BIOS) from lower speed rams.

If you look at the supported memory for this motherboard for crucial rams, this is the list

This really explains a lot of things, thank you for going this far to clear stuff up for me. I do have question, so I ended up ordering a ram anyway which is rated for 3200 MHz ram from crucial I'll attach a screenshot below can you let me know if it works as far as my understanding from what u have explained it should support
