yeah, just cpu and mobo. no beeps

interestingly power is still going through to the USB ports

Ok, next step is to start swapping hardware to find out if it’s the cpu, psu, or mobo. Alternatively, you can take it to a repair shop and ask them to test for you. Shouldn’t be too expensive if you take the board, cpu, and a stick of ram and they can just plug their own psu into it first and then swap the cpu out.

As per title, computer does not start up when pressing power button.

Tried shorting power button pins on motherboard, no effect

Tried to boot computer without GPU and storage and with only 1 stick of ram, still won't boot

Tried jumping the PSU by shorting pins on the 24pin connector on motherboard, all fans spins but computer won't stay on.

Motherboard still supplies USB power even while turned off.

Can I rule out PSU failure? Does this mean that either the CPU or motherboard is dead? Are there any other troubleshooting steps i can do that do not require any other spare hardware? Thank you!!

To check for a mobo/cpu issue, pull all the RAM out and try to start. If the CPU and mobo are good you will get a RAM error. If one of the two is bad, or if it’s a PSU issue you won’t get the RAM error.

Next step in troubleshooting needs access to different CPU/PSU/mobo.

Also, is this a brand new build or did the computer stop working?

I don't think my motherboard can show error codes.

The computer stopped working after i turned it off for about a week. Usually i just leave it on sleep

It has error beep codes. You need to have the little motherboard speaker installed.

see the “speaker” in the diagram on the right side of the board:0425FB65-1B6F-4990-87BA-798BC5420767.thumb.png.24b8e45373b4b22d3eb38d55d4b37260.png

I see, thanks!! I don't think the motherboard comes with 1, I'll try to get 1 and see how it goes

Usually it’s in a little ziplock with the screws and standoffs. If you still have the box, check for it. If not, they are super cheap. Your local computer repair shop might have one for free.

Got the speaker, plugged it in, press power button, no sound.

Short power pins, no sound
