Asus ROG Ally: 720p on 1080p screen

Kevinjr12

Hey All,

Just curious since Ally has native 1080p display, how would 720p look on it (with like the size of the screen)? I guess it does have built in system level FSR 1 right? So not as bad as like outputting 720p on a 1080p monitor/tv without it. I’d definitely prefer more fps vs 1080p.

it should look fine. it will not have inbuilt system fsr1 but because of the size of the display it will look fine.

If it uses fsr or some other kind of upscaling then it probably wont matter too much.

If you use native 720p then it wont look as clean as 1080p, but the quality loss may not be that bad since the display is pretty small.

depends. some games also supports resolution scaling, which might be a better option than letting the panel do the scaling, it will always cost you a bit because of poor pixel mapping, but as said, it is a 7 inch screen, so it might be marginal the fidelity loss, well of course you are running lower res, so you will get that degrade.

but go for FSR or Resolution scaling as in game menus before using the actual resolution slider. tend to be better if it is a text heavy game.
