CPU- Intel 13th Gen Core i7-13700KF 16 Cores 24 Thread 5.4GHz Processor - $605

I would go with 13700k instead, it's just $20 more. having igpu is really handy for troubleshooting and even helps at certain workloads.

GPU- Asus DUAL Radeon RX 6750 XT OC 12GB DDR6 Graphics Card - $579

Too underwhelming for the build. Your CPU is is more expensive that your gpu.

Motherboard- ASRock Z790 PRO RS WIFI DDR5 LGA1700 ATX Motherboard - $337

You might not need the minor additional features. It's ok to stay with z690

RAM- Corsair VENGEANCE 32GB DDR5 5600MHz (2x16GB) - $219

Same with motherboard and for compatibility, you really don't need a ddr5 for 13th gen. No real advantage or gain.

SSD- Crucial P5 Plus 1TB PCIe M.2 2280SS SSD - $139

SSD- WD_Black SN770 2TB M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD - $214

Too expensive, you can get similar performance with other brands like silicon power.

Case- Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB Tempered Glass Mid-tower ATX Case - Black - $205

If you really like RGB I guess. But Personally, I really don't like running the ICUE software in the background so I sold and stop using corsair parts that requires icue.

Power Supply- Corsair RMe Series RM1000e - $239

If you really want to future proofs, but 850w is just fine, even for future proofing.

1 hour ago, fourstar82 said:

CPU Cooling- Corsair iCUE H150i RGB PRO XT 360mm Liquid CPU Cooler - $229

Again if you really like RGB. With your case, unless you want to mount your radiator at the front(which I personally don't like), you might want to get the 240mm or 280mm variants for a top mount, which are also more than enough to cool a 13700k.

Cooling- Corsair iCUE SP120 RGB ELITE Performance 120mm PWM Fan - Single Pack - $28

You must really like RGB. But go for it. More FPS and we do what we want anyway.

But yeah, either you put some of the budget for RGB or you add it on your gpu budget and get either 4070 ti or 7900 xt.

Budget (including currency): $3000

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Lumion, AutoCAD, Rhino, some gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hi all, any feedback on this would be useful, it'll be a while before I actually get around to building this system so parts may very well be cheaper by the time I get to it. I've used the Lumion system requirements as a rough guide as well as reading and watching reviews for different parts. I'm currently using a 2015 MacBook Pro so its definitely time for an upgrade and its been 15 years since I've regularly used a Windows PC. A change of career away from cheffing and in to building design is on the horizon, so I'm in the preliminary stages of working out what I'll need PC wise. Price of parts was current at the time of posting. I haven't included the price of Windows 11 on top of this or a monitor either. I'm still researching monitors, just unsure of what I should get, refresh rates, ease on eyes, etc...

In which case wait until then to ask for suggestions. Enough will change price wise that whatever we recommend won't necessarily be relevant. Sales come up, parts go out of stock, etc.

You don't need a 1000w psu for this. A 750w will be more than enough. You probably don't need a Z790 board. You don't need expensive ssds. There is barely a difference in between high and low end gen 4 ssds.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).

I love Photography (Using a Canon 60D)

Love F1, my favourite team is Ferrari and my favourite driver is Leclerc

Thanks, that’s been a massive help. I see your point about RBG, not really necessary for me. The point about the CPU AND GPU make sense too and have adjusted it accordingly. Made a few other changes too  and is now under $3000.

no need to be rude. I’m not in a financial position to purchase everything all at once, so I’ll most likely buy parts over time. So planning the build is important to me. And yes, I’ll be keeping an eye out for sales to help save money.

I'm not saying to not get rgb, just because of people like me who doesn't like it. Just balance it a bit. For example, with what I originally provided you. You can go with a 4070 ti, which is a $100 cheaper than the 7900 xt. Then instead of 2 ssd, just get one 2tb ssd. You can get another one later. So now, you have an extra $190 with exact performance.
