Does something like this exist? - Wireless audio transmission for rear satellites.

Hi,

I'm looking for a way to have my rear satellites "wireless" or at least audio wires, power outlets are present and won't be an isuse.

I would love a way to use the standard speaker clamps on my amp into a transmitting station and the speaker into a receiving station. I've google a bit, but havent found yet what I'm looking for.
Does something like this even exist?

Wireless audio transmitter/receivers exist, but that's only half the solution for you. They're not designed to power speakers directly, so you'd still need an amplifier on top of that.

The wireless transmission will also introduce some additional delay, so your surround processor should have the ability to tune that out to not mess up the sound.

At that point, it is probably easier/cheaper to swallow running the cables and somehow hiding them.

Yes solutions like that exist, but there are definitely things to consider.

First, a traditional "rear/side" satellite for Surround Sound is a passive speaker, meaning it gets it's power from the audio cable. So you would need a small amp to power this speaker in addition to the wireless receiver.

However, you could just buy a small powered speaker instead, and use that. That would easily solve the power issue.

In terms of wireless kits - there are lots of solutions. One solution at my work we did once was to connect a Shure bodypack transmitter to our mixer/source, and then connect the wireless receiver to the speaker. This is effectively the reverse configuration as it would be if you used the bodypack with a Mic.

I really can't tell you how good the quality is, because this is a lobby in a public building, but we do play music over it. It sounds... okay.

I'd probably choose something more purpose built for home theatre in your case.
