Laptop for Mom

My mom is wanting a new laptop and has asked me to look around for her. A basic list of requirements (I helped her come up with, also pretty standard):

4Gb of Ram

500gb+ HDD

15-17" display

CD RW/ DVD+R

~$500

Avalible at Best Buy (US Stores)

I'm not really familiar with my laptops at all. I know I can go to best buy and give them that list and theyll be like "Oh yes we have that exact laptop right over here. Here being whatever laptop they're contracted to sell the most of and tag on all of their special deals that cost $200 more. I'm still going to best buy with her, thats the only place that sells laptops around here. But I'd rather go there knowing what to get based on facts from people who know a thing or two about laptops as opposed to letting the rep pick one for me.

What does your Mom do? I bought my Mom a laptop for $400 and it does everything and more for her.

If your mum is going to use it a lot without the charger than get a laptop with a 1366x768 resolution, depends on the use of the laptop really @N3rot0xin

She uses it like any other average user. Interneting, email, word processing and document editing. Dad will probably use it as well for gaming, but any laptop is as good as the desktop its replacing, and that can play all of his games perfectly so theres not much of a need for high performance.
