Its alright, But im not really sure if its worth it for you. its always better to get at least a double in performance with your gpu upgrades. and the 6600 wont cut it. 6600xt will barely make it but the 6650xt will do double. and since you are british i would use this website and this card can be bought i believe even with financing options if you cant fully pay it in one go. might be better for your wallet as well as it does go a bit above your budget but with finance it might be a non problem for you to pay it in months orso. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-radeon-rx-6650-xt-dual-oc-8gb-gddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-487-as.html

but the better thing to do of course is to just wait and if you really cant run games anymore at the settings you want not even with an oc and fsr or rdr2 vulkan than yeah you could upgrade.

But what i always say to myself is only upgrade if you have the money for it and you do not have anything else you absolutely have to spend it on like taxes or bills.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a GPU that I can replace my current RX 580 8GB, now I'm not looking to upgrade immediately as my wallet would probably beat me up, but to take into consideration in the future perhaps. Or should I really upgrade it at all? I did purchase it second hand around October for a reasonable price.

My current specs;

Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk

CPU: Ryzen 3600 3.6GHz

RAM: Corsair 2x16GB 3200MHz Vengeance LPX DDR4

GPU: PowerColor RX 580 8GB

PSU: Corsair CV550w

OS: Windows 11 Pro

Now I'd probably have to look for it second hand and not brand new, and ideally should be within the budget of under £200, perhaps if I sell the RX I could make it work.

I'm trying to sustain 1080p 60fps on high settings but for newer games it seems the GPU is struggling with it, for example even RDR2 drops below 60 even after tinkering with settings. Even with latest drivers, and the game was released in 2018... And I meet the recommended requirements for it too, which is even stranger.

Overclocking this card is probably a waste of time as this GPU generates heat and I can't reach the 1400MHz+ range anymore but I was able to overclock it stable around that figure perhaps this is due to degradation.

Thanks!

I mean if you can find 6800XT at the price of 300 pounds, more power to you. You should help me snipe 7900XT once people starts selling them on used market. But thats plain unrealistic.

But yeah in terms of GPU upgrade that 550W is going to be limiting, with 6700XT being my absolute max and even then its questionably stable considering CV series guts. 5700XT would be my used recommendation, with 6600XT or the overclocking job 6650XT being another 2. If 4060Ti and 4060 MSRP ended up being reasonable and not leg breaking (lmao), that can also be option for green team. But do be noted that none of these GPUs except 6700XT will have 12GB of VRAM which would be the new minimum as more and more modern title comes out, so keep that in mind.

Well, if you don't want to replace your PSU, I would suggest Radeon RX 6600 XT or non XT, but it definitely blew your budget of 200euro

But you can try RX 5700 XT, it's a bit over 200euro, but at least it's not priced much higher than RX 6600 XT
