White post led every other day

Hello everyone, 

 

four weeks ago i changed the RTX 3070 in my build with an RTX 4070 Ti (Asus Rog OC Edition). On the first boot, it kept being stuck on yellow post led, an issue i was able to resolve by resetting the cmos. After reenabling docp in the bios, everything ran fine. 

 

About ten days ago, when booting up the PC, the display wouldn't turn on, along with any connected hardware (leds in mouse, Keyboard, Wireless hub). LEDs in the case itself went on like normal. I was able to fix the issue by rebooting. 

 

Since then every second or third day, when booting the PC, the same thing will happen. I noticed that the post LED would get stuck on White, indicating an issue with the GPU. However, once i reboot the pc, everything starts normally and the PC and GPU perform without issues (expected performance in games etc, no crashes/bluescreens or anything). The other days, the PC will boot normally on the first try. 

 

I am using following system: 
Asus tuf gaming x570-plus

Ryzen 5800x

32 GB (4x8) DDR 4 G skill 3600 CL 16 

be.quiet Straight Power 11 750 W (Titanium rated) 

 

i used a 12VHPWR cable supplied by bequiet to connect the GPU to the PSU. 

 

 

Does anybody know what the most likely cause for this problem is?

tossing out ideas, maybe the card isn't seated fully?

maybe try putting your 3070 back in for a few days and see if issue persists.

then at least you would know if it is the gpu or not.

maybe when removing and installing new gpu he messed up soemthing else, for examples ram not fully seated or misplaced

 

yelow light from my experience usualy means ram, so maybe this is something to do with gpu and or ssd

Flash the latest motherboard Bios.

Flash the latest GPU vBios.

where do we find vBios? cant find any for my gpu (6750xt)

Usually on the webpage of the card. Sometimes in the TechPowerUp database.

 

Here's an example, for the card @jigetuz has:

can only find asrock tuner software on the downloads secton

There probably isn't a newer vBios available for your card.

i never even installed one in the first place, maybe it just vanished from existence lol

Your card comes with a factory vBios. All cards do. Manufacturers only put newer vBioses (firmware) on their websites if there's a need to fix something.

And it often happens that nVidia or AMD fix something and the manufacturers don't even bother with publishing newer bioses on the websites.

AMD offers only vBioses for the reference models to the reference board manufacturers.

There are no vBioses to download from AMD.

 

Open GPU-Z and you'll see which vBios version you have on the card.

Ask Asrock.

This was the first thing i did when i saw the yellow Post led when booting with the new gpu for the first time. Everything seated normally, clutches (is that what you call them?) fully engaged. Googling suggested that the yellow led might turn on randomly when installing new parts, and resetting the cmos made the issue go away.

I will try this first, should do issue persist i will recheck if the gpu is seated properly and get back to you.
