Minimum length for ATX cables?

Go to solution Solved by Sant_HH,

The atx cables only carry power so there wouldn't be any issues with cable length. I had an old power supply with a 12cm long 24pin and that worked fine

Hello all,

I'm building an ITX machine in an open case (Streacom DA6) and given how visible everything is, I want to make the cabling as tidy as possible by shortening cables where I can. I've read that SATA cables have a minimum length (300mm) to avoid timing, or noise interference on the cable (I don't understand how TBH). Does the same apply to ATX cables for the mobo and gpu? I can shorten them all quite significantly - the 24 pin cable to around 10cm for example, but obviously don't want to cause any issues.

Any advice would be amazing!

Thanks

That would be only for the data cable, not power... and I'd doubt that claim in the first place since in laptops, on m.2 slots and even more so on external USB drives SATA links are much shorter than that.
