Hi guys, I have an issue with my laptop. Asus UX530UX

Recently, I have been having issues like the laptop freezing and shutting down after plugging out the charging cable. No biggie, I'll just use it plugged in. But recently. even with the power plugged in, the screen goes black after 1 min on desktop, the fan goes to max speed for like 2 seconds before shutting down. I have tried restarting a few times, even system restore. Sometimes on startup, the fans will go to max speed and the screen backlight will turn on without the splashscreen.

I feel like a fresh install is in order but have been dragging my feet over it

Need help

Hi and welcome,

Try this... it is a power management setting. If you go to display properties, select the screen saver tab, then click the "power" button, in the power schemes field is a drop down window, click on it select the "Portable/Laptop" power scheme, it is a power switching utility that quickly switches between AC and Battery when the power cable/charger is plugged in or unplugged while the laptop is on. If you have it set to "always on" it will shut off when you pull the power cord, even if the battery is charged.

Bit of a tech guy, converted to PC's when consoles did not entertain me enough, the last console being an Xbox, was fun with Halo multi-play though. But  the want to discover, to test, to learn more about computers drove me to levels I had never known...

Some GPU's I have had, 8800GTS 384MB, 7800GT, GEFORCE 4 MX440, 250GTS,  770 GTX, 1650 GTX, RTX 3050 Plus many other GPU's over the years...

The respect I have for LMG is massive like a black hole, sucking in all the knowledge, I watch their awesome video's, their knowledge is like that of a God. Seriously some say they are number 1 in the whole wide world. LMG is like the INTEL fabrication plant. Beaming with technology goodness...

My gut says a hardware problem if it won't turn on properly sometimes. I think verifying if that's the problem first would be an excellent idea. If you can make some instillation media for Linux, such as Ubuntu or Mint, try booting off the instillation media and seeing if the issues still persist when messing around in the live Linux environment.
