DIY desk,help me improve

well hello there.

im want to build my own desk beacuse my current one is not very good.
here are some shots of the model iv made in google sketchup:
the Dimensions are : 130cm X 80cm X 1 cm on the main top Piece of wood
                                  10cm X 10cm X 5cm on the feet 
                                  
-so what do you think i can improve?
-also what type of metirial i should make the top picece of(or what type of coding for the wood)?
i would really like to hear what you say

i made cable cutouts
and thickend the top plate to 2cm

I suggest you make the top much thicker than 1cm.

why do you want a custom desk?

you should tell us about the place it will be going.

it will go in my room.

there will be a 23" screen and some peripherals

i make it beacuse i like creating things,and i want a mid~big sized deck without paying a big bunch of money

Curious why a custom desk? If you look around you can probably find one the width, height and depth you want. 

 

Your idea looks nice, though you may end up paying a lot more unless you have a woodshop in your garage or something ;-)

i do not belive that a desk from ikea or any other place will be cheaper.

about tools and stuff,my father has it all
