This applies to any build but it applies to smaller form factor builds more. Make sure you set out atleast a day to build your system. Your going to run into issues. Focus on cable management too, it will take hours but will be worth it in the end. Hoped I helped!

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).

go with a cheaper m.2. Basically no difference. I would go with a Kingston NV2 or whatevers cheapest.

1) Motherboard- ASUS TUF or ROG, they are stronger than other brands. Also look for AI noise cancelling on them.

2) Cabinet- Should have fans on front, back and top too for efficient cooling.

what? Why a TUF or ROG board? What do you mean by stronger? They are also more expensive than other brands.

again, elaborate on stronger. How are they stronger?

To start with since your fond of keycrhon, why don't you try their new Keychron M1 Wireless Mouse. It has wireless 2.4ghz/bluetooth/wired connection and it's $45. For ram, you can also try TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Alpha 6000MHz at almost the same price. For storage, why don't you just get one of these, Silicon Power 2TB UD85 and Silicon Power 2TB A60 for a total of 4tb instead of your 5tb(1tb ssd and 4tb hdd). they're almost the same price. I believe that the UD85 has dram cache and the OS should be installed there.

Lastly, do you already have an idea how long until your next upgrade and why AMD? Because if you are going to keep your system for 4 or more years, you can just get the 13600k. It should be better at productivity and should cost almost the same with your cpu mobo combo. while the cpu cost $320, good z690 motherboard should only cost around at $160-200, which should make the total lower or just about the same with your 7600 build. So unless your thinking of getting 8000/9000 ryzen that's possibly part of AM5 socket in the future, 13th gen should also be part of your option.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I'll try to answer some questions.

Still waiting to pull the trigger. I'm waiting for the prices on RDNA 2 GPUs to drop and hopefully pick up a RX 6800 XT.

Looks pretty nice! I'll probably use it in wired mode, because I have been screwed over by sub-par wireless performance in the past (looking at you, Logitech).

I plan on getting a 7800X3D once they start getting some discounts. Hopefully by June, which is when I plan on getting the parts.

I really hate chemistry.

Yeah, kind of a dark horse especially considering that Razer Viper Mini is super hard to come by currently. Also, i just realized that this is an Unreal development build, are you sure you can work out openCL on it? Because as far as i know they prefer Nvidia CUDA more.

That happened to me too, but with corsair. I pretty much realized either the lower tier  wireless mice have bad quality control or they're just bad in the long run. Currently using glorious model o and steelseries aerox3, so far, both are great and has no issue with their wireless functionality. I'll probably will get this keychron mouse too, as I'm intrigue as the sensors and features can only be found on $100 or more mice.

I don't see it getting much discount by june. Probably by quarter 4 this year, blackfriday.

I don't develop games as a career, mostly just on the side as fun side projects. Working on a metroidvania right now.

Why other brands are not writing that on their websites then? Why only Asus.

because it's eye candy. It absolutely stupid to be caring about whether its military grade or not when looking at a motherboard. It has zero impact, it's not like the Motherboard is going to get caught in crossfire from a gun.

I am building my first SFF build in a Fractal Design Torrent Nano. Any tips that can help me out?

Just a few general inputs from one who did his first build in a mITX.

As others said, give yourself time. There will be fiddeling with little space, so just be able to stand back and take a deep breath. And have good lighting.

If there are some cables you can connect before installing the mobo in the case, do it.

Another thing, don't sleep on the fans/cooling. I have no idea about the ones you have choosen, so its not a comment on them. Its just a place to be very aware as the whole thing is going to be tighter, so getting it right the first time is just a good thing.

Anyway, good luck 😄

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)
