I have a UDMSE with a couple of downlinks - 2 XG6-POEs, 2 usw enterprise 24s and an 2 enterprise XG24s. Since DAC cables are short I intend to get SFP+ fiber modules. There are multimodes and single modes. What confuses me are the fiber patch cables. I dont want to mix sfp modules in some switches and I want to get uacc-om-sm-10g-s-2. On paper it is a single mode duplex module. For the fiber patch cables, I see a lot of options. Can I plug multimode duplex cables into the single mode duplex fiber modules? I have some of these switches that are not installed pretty far away but I still intend to use the UACC-OM-SM-10G module. I just wanted to get these modules to be installed in all the switches regardless of the distance. Is there a draw back if I make short runs which is intended for long runs? By the way what type of fiber patch cables compatible for these modules?

Single mode fiber is for 800+ meters of fiber, for long lengths.

Multimode fiber is perfectly fine for shorter lengths like 300 meters most transceivers can do. It's also cheaper than single mode fiber.

Get OM4 grade, OM3 is probably enough but the price difference is very small.

Ex 20$ for generic / cisco sfp+ multimode 300m@om3 / 400m@om4 transceiver, duplex lc connector  https://www.fs.com/products/11552.html

They can put the ubiquity hardware IDs if you want them to show up as ubiquity transceivers

https://www.fs.com/products/65336.html?attribute=50&id=821

You get get used/pulled from datacenters for cheaper, ex 6$ for finisar FTLX8571 : https://unixsurplus.com/finisar-ftlx8571d3bcl/ - again, works with multimode fiber, duplex lc connectors...

may be worth buying one or two and see the compatibility, it should be compatible because the version with Dell hardware IDs and this Finisar chip shows up in the list of tested transceivers here (4th from the bottom of user submitted parts and also shows up under 10GBase-SR section) : https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/212561258-UniFi-USW-Which-SFP-Modules-Can-be-Used

edit:

These cisco transceivers also appear in the list , $6.63 each : https://www.ebay.com/itm/115745648763

These would probably also work but not the exact model number (pack of 10): https://www.ebay.com/itm/165965361087

Fiber ... LC OM3 multimode : https://www.fs.com/products/41730.html

LC OM4 multimode : https://www.fs.com/products/40180.html

OM3 seems to be cheaper at longer lengths , ex 30m (98ft) is $19 vs $39 for OM4 , $9 vs $14 for OM4 at 10 meters/33ft ...

What is the difference between these? What should I get? I will have runs with more than 800-1000meters.

If you have runs with more than 800-1000 meters, then go on fs.com and buy transceiver that can do more than that.

ex https://www.fs.com/de-en/products/11555.html works up to 10km

If you want to save on fiber, you can get bidirectional transceivers ex  https://www.fs.com/de-en/products/36351.html  but note they sometimes must be paired with specific models, for example the one linked must be paired with https://www.fs.com/products/36353.html  because one uses 1270nm to transmit and 1330nm to receive, and the other one is the other way around...
